Let’s queer all year, and keep coming out!
Tiiiiime for Pride!!!!
As queer people, we know the experience of coming out all too well. That’s because it doesn’t happen a single time. We come out multiple times with many people in different places.
If you’re trans or non-binary, you know this even more so.
It’s exhausting and painful.
I often wonder what it would be like if there were no closets.
No need to hide our most authentic selves.
What would it be like if people assumed one was gender fluid and queer?
What if people assumed one had multiple partners and grew up with more than two parents?
Imagine how liberated the world would be.
Cause whether you’re queer or not, you most likely know the experience of being closeted, holding yourself back and hiding who you truly are.
Closeting ourselves perpetuates shame and isolation.
When we closet ourselves we buy into the idea of heteronormativity. That there is only ONE way of living and being.
We learn that the right way to exist is to be cis and straight, with two children, and a dog in a house with a white picket fence.
[aka. boooooooooriiiiing]
What if we queer’ed it up and celebrated every single coming out moment?
Coming out is being who you are, not who you think you should be.
Coming out is embracing bravery, it's believing in yourself.
Coming out is coming closer to one self.
Coming out is a breath of fresh air.
Let yourself breathe. Let yourself shine. It’s time to be authentically you.
Let’s queer all year, and keep coming out! Again and again.
Sending you rainbow confetti 🎉🌈
