Feeling "too much"?
Naaah you're not overreacting. You’re not too emotional.
All of what you’re feeling at any given moment is just right.
Everyday we cycle n’between fear, pain, hurt, joy, sadness, and back to fear.
It takes deep courage to let ourselves be. To just sit with our emotions and not attempt to "fix them".
Hate to break it to you, but getting upset at yourself for feeling sad is not going to make you feel less sad!
Acknowledging how we feel can be so HARD especially when our emotions feel so intense.
Emotional intensity is not a pathology. It's a gift.
Your ability to feel deeply is your power (if you allow it to be).
Systems of oppression unfortunately pathologize so many essential emotions. So we learn to brush them aside.
We make ourselves believe that we're powerless to our emotions. As if our emotions were aliens suddenly invading.
You have choice. You can give yourself permission to feel. You can sit with the intensity. It will pass, I promise.
I'm here with you. Practicing every day.
And if you're thinking "What will people think?". Well yes people will have reactions to your emotions, they always do, and that's ok. That said, no one knows your lived experience better than you.
Awareness of our emotional wellbeing is the first step to making real-lasting change.
Remember that listening and attending to YOU is the priority.
