You might not know this about me...
But I have a sacred daily practice (it’s dear to my heart).
Many people have a morning practice, a meditation practice, a gratitude practice, a yoga practice…
Well, I have a daily CRYING practice.
Yep, true story! Every damn day I cry. Some days it’s a teardrop and other times it’s an entire bathtub of tears. Often an n'between (obvs). And if I’m being real, sometimes it’s multiple times a day.
Sadly our tears are SHAMED!
We’re fed this lie that we’re supposed to be happy (all the time). When truly, we’re here to feel all of it!
I know life can be HARD. And I also know, we wouldn’t be us without these painful times, because these challenges make us grow.
Yet capitalism, patriarchy and other systems of oppression trick us into thinking that “tears and feelings are a problem"......(!!!)
How many times have you had someone tell you: “Oh, DON'T cry!!”, and how many times have you then responded with a withholding-tears-in-your-throat “I’m sooooorry”.
This is all upside down!
We should be thanking our tears. Crying literally cleanses our stress hormones.
It’s the most accessible inherent release. And truly a sacred somatic experience we have as humans.
