New year…same you?
Happy New Year!
Are you a new person yet? Have you finished that project you’ve been pushing off? Did you pick up that new skill already?
With a new year comes a wholeeee lotta expectations. I’m sure you may be putting pressure on yourself to get it right and to get it right quickly.
Just because the clock struck midnight does not mean that a magical transformation is going to happen. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is not Cinderella.
So, I want to ask what unkind expectations are you holding for yourself this year?
A new year calls for new attitudes, new energy, and of course that list of resolutions. They come with the best of intentions, but often these resolutions are unrealistic and unkind.
Don’t get me wrong, they are not impossible. You absolutely deserve to manifest what you set your mind to, but it’s important to be patient with yourself.
Change takes time. Growth takes time.
You are not going to finish that project in one week or find your dream job overnight.
Some things take time and THAT IS OKAY. Slow and steady wins the race or whatever that saying is.
The thing about resolutions is we expect to accomplish them in a set amount of time. So, we start strong but if we don’t see those resolutions come to fruition in a matter of months or even weeks, we start to let go. We let go and we beat ourselves up for it.
So, as you work towards your goals for the new year, don’t be shy. Your aspirations can be as big or as small as you wish. But be gentle with yourself. Don’t self-sabotage.
I know you’re going to do some amazing things. Big things and some really small things.
Hug hug
